a1 Training was established in 2005, and is part of a1 Security Home Counties (UK) Ltd, which is a privately owned company established in 1995. a1 Training was originally created to train the Security Officers of a1 Security to ensure they complied with the new Private Security Industry Act 2001, which came into force in 2006.

Due to the phenomenal success of a1 Training within the Security sector we have now expanded into other sectors including corporate training for topics like first aid, fire wardens/marshaling, employability skills, HR profiling, exam management, food hygiene and conflict management. We are an accredited NOCN, HABC and EDI approved Training Centre and in 2009, were accredited by the BSI BS EN ISO 9000:2008 for training.

BSI updated standard BS 7984 (Key Holding and Alarm Response) in 2008, and a1's Training Manager developed the first two-day training course for the security industry to comply with the new standard, which was approved by Skills for Security and is now taught to security professionals across the UK.

All a1 trainer's are trained professionals who have the relevant knowledge and qualifications to deliver first class training. They are all members of the IfL (Institute for Learning) and able to train nationally. a1 Training works very closely with local colleges to develop and deliver training courses for their students.
